SAINT ANTHONY – Texas Department of Transportation officials are urging people to stay off the roads this Wednesday morning after the icy rain caused a layer of ice throughout the San Antonio region.
TxDOT reported that there are dangerous icy conditions they are present throughout the region.
The National Meteorological Service reported that as of 2 a.m., freezing rain and sleet had formed as the worst of all of last week’s winter events.
Ice accumulations were expected to be between 1/4 and 3/4 inch along / north of I-10, probably causing large power cuts and damage to trees.

New Braunfels officials reported that as of 3:30 a.m., all streets and bridges should be considered impassable until further notice.
Officials said all streets (City and State) are covered with one or two inches of ice and are out of treatment and emergency workers may not be able to reach drivers if they need help.
Some of the snow that fell on Sunday night partially melted but has re-frozen.
Sant Antoni is expected to experience several days of icy roads, which may include black ice.
TxDOT added that drivers should not drive or move barricades.
