UGT requests meeting with Pierluisi to talk about Labor Reform

The president of the General Union of Workers (UGT), Gerson Guzmán López, reported that he requested a meeting with the chief executive to make himself available and collaborate so that there are changes in issues that the governor it would have shown dissatisfaction such as Labor Reform and the working conditions of public servants.

“We have read with great interest the expressions where, in addition to establishing his dissatisfaction with the Labor Reform and his desire to improve the working conditions and salaries of public servants, the governor is interested in stopping the cut in pensions and to amend those laws which have taken away essential rights from the working class, and we therefore request by letter a meeting to engage in dialogue and make ourselves available to assist in this matter, and that all this results in the better benefit for the workers and for the reconstruction of a better country, ”he explained.

The union leader expressed that the UGT has the greatest interest and openness to dialogue with the governor on these and other issues affecting the work environment of the more than 10,000 workers represented in the public sector, state corporations and the ‘private enterprise.

“We put at the disposal of the governor and the country to contribute the experience of the 60 years of our union, in defense of the interests of the working class and the welfare of the country, to find appropriate answers to the approaches made public by the first executive, ”he said.

Guzmán López also added in his letter, to be part of the conversation, the recent decision of Judge Taylor Swain to repeal legislation that favors the working class of the country.

“It is extremely important to correct, as soon as possible, the decision of Judge Taylor Swain to repeal the legislation passed to restore workers the right to thirty days of vacation and their regular leave of absence. Correct this misguided action of the Judge will allow workers to enjoy the time needed to take care of their health, rest properly from their workday and share quality time with their families, ”she expressed.

The president of the General Union of Workers did not rule out other sectors joining the dialogue proposed by his union.

“We have no doubt that this dialogue would be of interest to join the members of the Trade Union Movement, as well as other organized sectors of our society.
