Fifteen people were charged with assault in the United States Capitol, Including the man photographed in the office of Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi, the Justice Department announced Friday.
“We announce fifteen charges made by federal justice”, Ken Kohl, of the Washington Federal Prosecutor’s Office, told a news conference.
Among the accused are a man suspected of planting a hand grenade near Congress and Richard Barnett, who was arrested on Friday and who entered Pelosi’s office where he posed for the cameras and left insulting messages, the official said. Barnett was arrested in Arkansas and charged with “violent intrusion,” according to Kohl.

Authorities pointed to a person who had 11 Molotov cocktails in a vehicle near Congress, as well as another who knocking down one policeman and another who entered with a loaded revolver.
“Literally hundreds of prosecutors and agents are working at three command centers 24 hours a day and seven days a day,” added Kohl who promised more arrests and culprits in the coming days.

In the other hand, the United States Attorney General’s Office will open a criminal case
for the death of a police officer in the assault on Congress, local media reported on Friday.
Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick, was one of the five deadly victims of the assault carried out by Trump supporters to interrupt a session in which Democrat Joe Biden’s election victory was certified.
The officer died Thursday “from injuries he suffered while working” in the assault on Congress by Trump supporters, police confirmed in a statement.
