The New York Democratic MP Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez revealed to have survived a sexual assault, in an emotional video on Monday on Instagram, in which he confessed to having feared for his life during the assault on the Capitol on January 6th.
Accusing conservatives who oppose the removal of the former US President Donald Trump of encouraging the violence that led to this attack, the symbol of the American progressive left compared them to “abusers”.
“They are trying to tell us that we are moving on to something else without being held accountable, without telling the truth or without facing the extreme damage, the loss of human lives, the trauma,” Ocasio-Cortez assured.

“I am a survivor of a sexual assault and I have not told it to many people in my life,” the politician added, comparing lawmakers who want to “move on to something else” after the assault on the Capitol with the denial tactic used by the aggressors.
“As a survivor, I struggle with the idea that they create me,” he added without giving details of the aggression. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, known as AOC, explained in the live video the fear she felt during the attack on the Capitol and how he had to hide. “I thought I would die,” he assured.
The deputy’s confession, which has more than 350,000 views, was celebrated for her courage and honesty.
Deputy Katie Porter told MSNBC that she lent him a pair of sneakers during the attack in case she had to “run to save her life,” to which AOC replied, “I just hope I can become a mother. I hope I don’t die today.”

This week, Ocasio-Cortez disliked Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz, who approved of his criticism of the stock market Robinhood. “I’m delighted to be working with Republicans on this issue where there are points in common, but three weeks ago they almost got me killed, so they can wait sitting down,” he tweeted.
