Apple has released macOS Big Sur 11.2. I wbut don’t waste time when it comes to important system updates, you know there are no new features in this version worry — iAll bug fixes and security updates. However, if you have a brand new Mac M1 that you use with an external display, you may want to prioritize this patch today.
As always, installing the update is easy: Click the Apple logo at the top left of macOS Big Sur, then go to System Preferences> Software Update. You will see this screen once you click to start the installation, which consumes about 3.66 GB of space:
And here are the highlights of what Apple is fixing on macOS Big Sur 11.2:
- External screens may display a black screen when connected to a Mac mini (M1, 2020) using an HDMI to DVI converter
- Modifications to Apple ProRAW photos in the Photos app might not be saved
- iCloud Drive can be turned off after you turn off iCloud Drive Desktop and Documents
- System preferences cannot be unlocked when you enter the administrator password
- The balloon key may not display the Emoji panel and symbols when pressed
Elsewhere, Apple also lists several security updates you will find in macOS Big Sur 11.2. There are quite a few, including a fun one, in which “a user who is removed from an iMessage group can join the group,” as Apple describes it.

Although your Big Sur 11.2 update is successful, now is a good time to update your iPhone or iPad as well (at iOS 14.4 / iPadOS 14.4), your Apple Watch (a watchOS 7.3) or your Apple TV tvOS 14.4). And if you want to live in a wild look, you can always grab the latest developer versions for your iPhone and Apple Watch to add some fun new features, including the ability to unlock your iPhone with your Apple Watch when you wear a face mask.
