LOS ANGELES – Julio Uries got his 18th win of the season, the best mark of the greats; Gavin Lux towed a decisive run in the fourth with a single and the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-3 Wednesday to complete a 6-0 series at home.
The Dodgers nailed 14 hits in their sixth straight win and ninth in a row at home, where they are 52-23, the best record of the greats.
Lux went 4-2 and towed 2. Max MUNCY went 5-2, towed one run and scored another.
Uries became the fourth Mexican-born pitcher to record 18 wins or more in a major season. The legendary Dodgers player Fernando Valenzuela and Esteban Loaiza did it twice each, and Teddy Figuera on one occasion.
Uries (18-3) admitted two runs and three hits in five innings, struck out five and gave up two tickets. So the Dodgers improved to 23-6 in their 29 openings. The left-hander withdrew nine of his first 10 batters and did not admit a hit until Christian Walker’s single in the chamber.
Curazoleño Kenley Jansen withdrew with a view to all rival batters in the ninth, to sign his 33rd save, the 12th in a row.
For the Diamondbacks, the Venezuelan David Peralta 1-0. The Dominican Ketel Mart 2-0 with a score. Puerto Rican Miquel Ramos 4-1 with two goals.
For the Dodgers, Mexican Julio Uries 1-0. The Dominican Albert Pujols 1-0.
