US congressmen visit Luis Abinader

President Luis Abinader received a delegation at the National Palace made up of three congressmen from the United States, including the Dominican Adriano Espaillat, from New York, with whom he talked about the situation in the country and the region.

The legislators arrived accompanied by the Chancellor of the Dominican Republic, Roberto Alvarez, and the Dominican Ambassador, Sonia Guzmán.

The chancellor explained that US congressmen are touring the region, but in the country the aim of the legislators ’visit is to establish and strengthen ties between the two countries.

“Also to get to know first hand the situation in our country they held a meeting with the president for about an hour and a half, in which they exchanged broad views on the situation in our country,” the chancellor explained. For their part, the congressmen highlighted the good management carried out by the president in economic matters, in the fight against corruption and the management of the pandemic caused by the Covid-19.

“I have known the president since 2011 and I am very proud of what he has done in a short time, such as his fight against corruption and against Covid. We also talked about how to improve the economic situation in the Dominican Republic,” said Albio Sires . Meanwhile, Mark Green said it is a great honor for him to visit the country to promote the relationship between the two nations and take it to another level, creating opportunities, security and development in the region.

Meanwhile, Espaillat reported that they took this opportunity to talk also about the nearshoring and the great capacity that this country and others in Latin America and the Caribbean have to produce many products that are needed to face the pandemic.
