Utah police were called missing Gabby Petito, LI’s boyfriend last month

Utah police responded to an “incident” related to the disappearance of Long Island native Gabby Petito and boyfriend Brian Laundrie about two weeks before she was last seen, but no arrests were made and no file criminal charges.

Moab police chief Bret Edge said an unidentified person called for an “incident” related to the couple on Aug. 12, according to Fox News.

“Officers conducted an investigation and determined that there was insufficient evidence to justify the criminal charges,” Edge said at the exit.

The nature of the incident was unclear.

Petito, 22, was reported missing on Sept. 11 by her mother after she was last seen in Wyoming’s Grand Teton National Park in late August.

Laundrie and Petito left together during the background trip, but Laundrie later returned to the Florida home they shared, and has since dodged police and media. He said Tuesday through his lawyer that he “would stay in the background.”

Petito’s family responded by begging her boyfriend to open up.

“The Schmidt family and Petito are going through the worst times of their lives,” they said in a statement.

“The Schmidt family and Petito beg the Laundrie family not to ‘stay in the background,’ but to help find who Brian referred to as the love of his life,” the statement said. “How Brian stays in the background when he’s the only person who knows where Gabby is.”

Police have not charged Laundrie with unlawful acts, but police in his hometown of North Port, Florida, reportedly want to talk to him while investigating the FBI and Suffolk County police.

Officials there previously called Petito’s disappearance “strange.”

“I think someone would assume that the last person who could be around you is a person of interest who you want to talk to,” a spokesman told Fox. “However, there is no crime at this time.”
