Madrid, 13 Sep (EFE) .- The Nobel Laureate in Literature Mario Vargas Llosa denounced on Monday the “absolutely outrageous assault” suffered by Nicaraguan writer Sergio Ramírez and said that he had just released himself from prison along with other opponents of the “Left couple”, in reference to Daniel Ortega and his wife.
This was highlighted by Mario Vargas Llosa before the start of the first meeting of “Central America Account”, the Ibero-American literature festival chaired by Sergio Ramírez and held this year in Madrid by the AECID and Casa América, after which he has asked for a tribute and “A big round of applause” for him.

Ramírez, Cervantes Prize 2017, vice president during the first Sandinista government (1979-1990) and now very critical of President Daniel Ortega, was accused by the Nicaraguan Prosecutor’s Office of “Performing acts that encourage and incite hatred and violence.”
The Nobel Laureate in Literature has noted that Ramirez is “a magnificent writer who has participated in the political life of his country in the moderate way that is associated with his way of being and writing.”
“And Commander Ortega and his wife have just banned his latest book and he has been saved from being in jail with other opponents of this sinister couple,” he stressed.
