The Vice President of the Senate of Puerto Rico, Marially González Huertas, said today, Sunday, that she is satisfied after Governor Pedro Pierluisi Urrutia declared a state of emergency for gender violence.
“The Executive Order to declare a state of emergency for gender-based violence in Puerto Rico is a step forward and plausible in the fight to stop feminicide. From the Senate we will measure its effectiveness continuously, while monitoring the use of funds in the development of their tools. Congratulations! “, González Huertas stated in written statements.
Pierluisi today issued an Executive Order declaring a state of emergency for gender-based violence.
In addition, the Order stipulates the creation of a Committee for the Prevention, Support, Rescue and Education of Gender Violence (PARE).
The Order will be in force until June 30, 2022.
