The teams of the Air Police Group and Coastal Police reported the finding of 11 containers floating in the ocean, off the coast of El Salvador located in La Barra de Santiago, in the department of Ahuachapán.
Through their Twitter account, the National Civil Police (PNC) noted that they were being held in custody.
According to the police, the containers were transported by a boat bound for Port de Acajutla and due to the high tide, it lost 21 containers, of which 11 have been located.
The PNC also calls on the population not to approach the containers, as it is unknown whether their contents are dangerous substances.
The police institution has added that it is coordinating with the boat and the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MARN) to establish the possible risk of the content.
The institution will expand information shortly.
