VIDEO: Strong fire consumes premises in the central market of Santa Anna

Due to the magnitude of the emergency, firefighters classified the incident as “level III structural fire.” He managed to check in at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday night.

A large-scale fire consumed local Wednesday night in the plastics, piñatas and clothing sector, as well as kitchens in the central Santa Anna market.

The accident started around 8pm and two and a half hours later firefighters were still working at the scene. The institution reported that the fire was brought under control at about 10:45 p.m.

Videos shared by vendors showed some people inside the site trying to rescue merchandise and shelves; in addition, some claimed the fire was in the “shell sales” area.

On his Twitter account, Firefighters detailed that they were making use of all available resources in the western part of the country with the intention of controlling the fire.

“Due to the magnitude of the emergency, the event in the Santa Anna market is classified as ‘Level III structural fire’, given the amount of resources that have been used,” Firefighters reported.

They also explained that they had improvised at least one access to the facilities with the intention of counteracting the fire from different flanks.

Five motor bombs and a cistern, among other vehicles, mobilized firefighters to the scene. CAMINA also mobilized pipes with water.

During the emergency, it was necessary to constantly call the public to avoid traveling in the vicinity, as the vehicles of the relief forces were moving in the sector.

On January 4, at least 23 people, including two minors, were injured when a propane gas drum exploded in a fast food restaurant located on the 8th. North Avenue on the North Side of the Santa Anna Market, the Fire Department reported.

As a result of the explosion, three formal businesses and more than 30 sites installed in the vicinity resulted in considerable damage, the source detailed.

Preliminary investigations point out that the explosion occurred when the business was supplied with propane gas, but it is not yet known what may have caused the accident.
