Virginia sees 2,034 new coronavirus cases, now reporting 559,930 statewide

Since February 19, Virginia has reported 559,930 coronavirus cases across the Commonwealth since March 2020.

As of Friday, a total of 1,471,242 vaccines have been administered throughout Virginia, with 393,306 people fully vaccinated, according to VDH.

The following is a breakdown of the 2,034 new coronavirus cases reported today in Virginia:

  • 213 new cases in Roanoke County

  • 182 new cases in Fairfax County

  • 127 new cases in Chesterfield County

  • 114 new cases in Virginia Beach

  • 107 new cases in Charlottesville

  • 102 new cases in Prince William County

  • 83 new cases in Norfolk

  • 81 new cases in Loudoun County

  • 80 new cases in Chesapeake

  • 76 new cases in Albemarle County

  • 65 new cases in Montgomery County

  • 64 new cases in Newport News

  • 61 new cases in Richmond

  • 47 new cases in Hampton

  • 42 new cases in Arlington County

  • 37 new cases in Henrico County

  • 31 new cases in Portsmouth

  • 29 new cases in Petersburg

  • 27 new cases in Spotsylvania County

  • 23 new cases in Hanover County and Botetourt County

  • 22 new cases in Suffolk and Stafford counties

  • 21 new cases in Alexandria

  • 20 new cases in Frederick County

  • 19 new cases in Pittsylvania County

  • 18 new cases in Campbell County and Prince George’s County

  • 17 new cases in York County

  • 16 new cases in Fluvanna County and Southampton County

  • 14 new cases in Rockingham County and Colonial Heights

  • 13 new cases in Danville, Warren County, King William County and Louisa County

  • 12 new cases in Greensville County

  • 11 new cases in Isle of Wight County, Hopewell, Lexington, Fauquier County and Wythe County

  • 10 new cases in Halifax County

  • 9 new cases in Gloucester County

  • Eight new cases in Salem, Greene County, Wise County, Smyth County and Richmond County

  • 7 new cases in Lynchburg, Dinwiddie County, Accomack County, Patrick County and Northumberland County

  • 6 new cases in Shenandoah County, James City County, Powhatan County, Dickenson County and Lunenburg County

  • 5 new cases in Augusta County, Franklin County, Page County, Mathews County, Brunswick County, Appomattox County, King George County, Sussex County, Martinsville and Fredericksburg

  • 4 new cases in Henry County, Prince Edward County, Middlesex County, Lancaster County, Clarke County, Charlotte County, Essex County, Buena Vista and Winchester

  • 3 new cases in Harrisonburg, Franklin, Waynesboro, Amherst County, Culpeper County, Northampton County, Radford, Manassas, Fairfax, Caroline County, Westmoreland County, Giles County, Surry County, Pulaski County, Lee County, Craig County, Alleghany County and Williamsburg

  • 2 new cases in Staunton, Goochland County, New Kent County, Scott County, Covington, Poquoson, Nelson County, Highland County, Galax and Washington County

  • 1 new case in Buckingham County, Floyd County, Grayson County, King and Queen County, Charles City County, Falls Church, Amelia County and Bland County

  • Rockbridge County, Tazewell County, Bristol and Bath County declined in one case

  • Russell County declined in three cases

  • Roanoke City decreased by 201 cases

  • According to the health department, case decreases can be attributed to a person being tested in a location other than where they live or the process of automating electronically reported lab results may attribute incorrect jurisdiction to a specific postal code.

    As of Friday, the Virginia Department of Health reports that there have been 7,204,657 test meetings in total.

    The term “test encounters” includes people who have been tested more than once for their profession, high-risk status, or the need for a negative result to return to work. The health department began using this metric on May 1st. For more information, click here.
