HOUSTON – The waiting list for the NRG Park coronavirus vaccine clinic is being expanded.
Stephen Williams, director of the Houston Department of Health, said Monday that the waiting list is being expanded to anyone who meets the requirements to receive the vaccine in phases 1A and 1B.
Phase 1A of the state criteria focuses on front-line health workers and long-term care center residents. Phase 1B focuses on people 65 years of age or older and people 16 years of age or older with medical conditions who are at increased risk for serious COVID-19 diseases.
Williams said the large number of vaccines that can be administered at the NRG park site needed the expansion of people who meet the requirements for the waiting list.
Go to houstonemergency.org/covid-19-vaccines or call 832-393-4301 to join the waiting list. People with disabilities can call the Resource Center for Aging and Disability at 832-393-5500. Anyone who needs help registering can contact the COVID-19 call center at 832-393-4220.

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner said 6,000 doses of the recently approved Johnson & Johnson single-dose coronavirus vaccine are expected to arrive in Houston this week. This adds to the 9,000 doses of the Modern vaccine that were already targeting the city.
Harris County public health officials said they expect to receive approximately 12,000 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine this week.
A year after the pandemic, Turner said there is “light at the end of the pandemic tunnel,” but people should continue to wear masks and keep their distance from others.
