Walgreens, Jewel Osco Opens COVID Vaccine Appointments for Illinois Phase 1B Residents – NBC Chicago

As of Monday, several Walgreens and Jewel-Osco locations began getting vaccinated or opened appointments for eligible Illinois residents under Phase 1B of the state’s vaccine launch.

Phase 1B opens vaccines to people 65 and older, as well as “front-line essential workers,” which includes first aid, education workers as teachers and support staff, daycare workers, store employees of groceries, postal service workers and more.

There are several ways in which eligible residents will be able to be vaccinated, but state officials have called for patience as the new phase opens.

According to Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, Walgreens has begun providing vaccines to 92 locations across the state. Jewel-Osco will begin vaccinations on Tuesday, but launched its site to schedule appointments on Monday.

The state said “additional pharmacy partners will go online and open the appointment register” also in the coming days.

A Walmart spokeswoman confirmed Friday that starting this week and next, the big box retailer will begin providing inoculations to the city of Chicago as well as Indiana, along with six other states.

The company has already been offering vaccines in New Mexico and Arkansas, where it is headquartered. (For more information on vaccine release, click here.)

“This site will serve as the hub for all vaccine-related information, which will direct residents to the appointment booking homepages of our 97 local health departments and our pharmacy partners, which will add up to hundreds of locations. statewide, “Pritzker said in a statement. also includes information about our first Illinois National Guard mass vaccination site, which will open tomorrow at the Tinley Park Convention Center, and will be updated as more state-run sites and hundreds connect of additional local options. Because the federal supply is currently limited and all states in the nation are facing a shortage, I urge all Illinois residents to regularly check available appointments and, in the meantime, mask themselves, keep their distance, wash – your hands and remember We will stay healthy and safe if we watch each other. ”
