Walgreens solves website problem so Vermonters 65+ can register for vaccination

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Walgreens has corrected its website after a technical issue on Thursday prevented Vermonters aged 65 and over from registering for COVID vaccines.

Walgreens told Vermont officials it would be ready to begin registering Vermonters in that age group Thursday. But when Vermonters began trying to register, both Walgreens ’website and phone system said people had to be 70 or older to make an appointment.

Since then, the company has fixed the issue with its website and those over 65 can now sign up for an appointment. People may need to clear their web browser / cache or reload the page once it has been activated.

The telephone system has not yet been fixed. Once successfully updated, Vermonters will be able to call 1-800-WALGREENS.

You need an appointment to get vaccinated at Walgreens, there are no tours.

Walgreens received an unexpected dose increase of 4,300 from the CDC.

Vermont officials will open registration for the over-65 age group on Monday at 8:15 p.m.

Kinney Drugs will also open its online registry on Monday.

All people who were previously eligible for a vaccine are still eligible and can make an appointment now.
