The supermarket chain Walmart announced today that it will begin administering Pfizer vaccines against Covid-19 in El Paso at a clinic located in the Walmart Cel Vista car park starting Feb. 25.

According to company officials, through the U.S. Federal Retail Pharmacy Program, the clinic will be installed at the Walmart branch located at 7101 Gateway Blvd W, with a self-service system.

“Eligible patients can schedule an appointment for vaccines through the Walmart website, so it’s convenient to vaccinate — until stocks of vaccines run out,” a statement reads.

Vaccines will be available for those who meet the current phase of vaccine eligibility in Texas, which can be found at https://www.dshs.texas.gov/coronavirus/immunize/vaccine/.

In addition, it was announced that no insurance is required and will have no cost to receive the vaccine; appointments for the second vaccine will be made during the first appointment.

“Walmart anticipates that these events will take place over the next few weeks, as the allocation allows,” the report adds.

The Walmart chain said it is conducting vaccination events in places that prioritize access for those considered most vulnerable, as well as operational capabilities.

“The team took into account demographic information, local health needs, staffing, and medically neglected data to identify initial locations where the company believes it may have the greatest impact on increasing access to vaccines, ”the company stated.

Dra. Cheryl Pegus, executive vice president of health and wellness, said the company is looking for two goals with the vaccine.

“We have two goals while administering vaccines: first, to get as many injections as possible so that we can begin the process of reopening our country, and second, to ensure equitable access to vaccines in the communities we serve,” Pegus said. .

“We will continue to find new ways to increase access to vaccination for our clients as we work towards the eventual end of the pandemic,” he added.

Walmart said it has also partnered with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and states to move forward as quickly as possible to help administer vaccines to eligible populations in the 35 participating states, Puerto Rico and the District of Colombia.

“The supply and eligibility of the vaccine will vary according to state and local guidelines. In addition to appointments, the programmer will provide a digital reminder when it is time to return for the second vaccine, so customers are asked to create a profile, which helps ensure clients receive the second dose of the vaccine within the required timeframe, ”they reported.
