William Jackson, a former Cincinnati Bengals cornerback, has reached an agreement with the Washington football team over a three-year, $ 42 million deal, a source in ESPN’s Adam Schefter said Tuesday.
Jackson, 28, came into 2020 with much to prove after the Bengals opted for his fifth-year option and responded by advocating a lucrative new deal with a recovery season.
The first-round pick of 2016 had 11 passing deviations, eight more than the 2019 total, and had a completion rate of 57.9% when he was the closest defender, according to NFL Next Gen statistics . When Jackson lined up against receivers outside the lineup, their numbers were even stronger. As the closest defender in these situations, his allowed completion percentage dropped to 56.1%.
Jackson had his breaking season in 2017, when he allowed 10 catches in 41 goals without touchdowns, an interception and 13 passing deflections when he was the closest defender against outside receivers, according to NFL Next Gen statistics.
He missed the entire rookie season with a torn pectoral muscle after being selected with the 24th overall selection. In his four seasons of action, Jackson had 150 attacks, three interceptions, a sack, 41 passing passes and a defensive touchdown.
