Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell speaks Thursday in a virtual chat hosted by Princeton University Bendheim Finance Center.

The talk comes at a crucial time for the Federal Reserve, which in December committed to its current policy until it saw substantial progress towards its inflation and employment targets.

As part of its response to the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Fed has reduced its benchmark short-term lending rate to almost zero and buys at least $ 120 billion in bonds each month. In recent speeches, some Fed officials have said they see the economy rebounding strongly this year, possibly pushing for the withdrawal of some of the housing.
