DETROIT – Wayne County announced it will open several vaccination clinics for residents age 65 and older.
According to county executive Warren Evans, vaccination clinics for residents in Canton, Highland Park, Hamtramck, Inkster, Melvindale, Pontiac Romulus and the City of Wayne will begin Feb. 23.
“I’m pleased that Wayne County is in a position to start vaccinating seniors,” Evans said. “I know everyone wants to return to normal safely. Our team works hard to ensure that all of our residents can get COVID as soon as the vaccine is available. ”
There is no prior appointment and seniors must make an appointment by calling the place number in their communities.

“All vaccinated residents are getting closer to ending the pandemic,” Evans said. “I also want to thank the state of Michigan for working with Wayne County to ensure we have more doses to vaccinate our seniors faster. The vaccine distribution process is limited by the available vaccine, of which no one has enough, but Wayne County is firing into the arms as fast as we can. “
