Webinar Health and well-being in projects and structures: Sustainable Development Objective 3
The Latin American Steel Association (Alacero) presents the webinar “Health and well-being in projects and structures – SDG 3”, a virtual meeting for professionals in the construction sector and students of schools of architecture in Latin America who want to know more about how to handle the issues of health and well-being in architectural projects, under SDG 3 – health and well-being of the UN Agenda 2030, topic of the 14th Steel Architecture Competition Alacero 2021.
The webinar will focus on transforming the industry towards the creation and development of healthy and sustainable buildings. Marked on April 20, at 10 pm UTC (7 pm in Brazil and 5 pm in Colombia), the main pillar will be the third Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), one of the 17 established by the United Nations General Assembly as part of the 2030 agenda for sustainable development. Addressing the topic the event will bring projects and tools that can be used by students as a suggestion or inspiration for their projects in the context of the region.
The webinar will be presented by Juanita Álvarez, Head of Engagement & Networks of the World Green Building Council, which focuses on fostering collaboration between Green Building Councils on a global and regional scale. Specializing in the area of sustainability for companies in the construction industry, Juanita has a master’s degree from New York University in corporate communications, and seeks to promote the transformation of the construction industry towards sustainability, sharing the best practices and generating impact through the global projects of the organization.
“We need to put people at the center of design and construction, to provide spaces that contribute to the health and well-being of those who inhabit it. It is our goal to provide tools to achieve healthy, equitable and equitable buildings, communities and cities. resilient, ”Juanita Alvarez said.
She will provide us with her experience on what tools can be applied at the time of designing a project, as well as share a panorama of successful cases of example buildings in our region. Previously, Alvarez worked as the Network Manager of the Americas, at 16 Councils in the region to meet the 2030-2050 carbon footprint reduction goals, promote healthy and sustainable buildings, and encourage the development of public policies toward to energy efficiency and resource savings in different Latin American countries.
