FORECAST SUMMARY

The last few days we have had a nice nice weather, but it can’t last forever and today the pattern will change.

A cold front will be responsible for a generally windy day, in addition to the risk of gusty storms, especially later today and tonight. Flood clocks have been released in much of the area, with storms capable of producing one or two inches of rain, which, given the recent period of rain, is all that will be needed to cause some renewed flooding. Some storms could also be on the strong side with the possibility of damaging winds, hail and even a tornado or two.

However, this will not repeat Ida last week, as only scattered showers and storms were expected, an event not as widespread or intense as Ida was.

Once our border cold grows, we will gradually disappear on Thursday and press the restart button at some quintessential late summer time later from Thursday to at least Sunday.

DETAILED FORECAST

WEDNESDAY AND WEDNESDAY NIGHT

The skies will be partly sunny for much of the day on Wednesday ahead of our next cold front, with a rapid southwesterly breeze that will pump up some heat and humidity. It’s a one-day viscosity wave, but enough to fuel the risk of some scattered showers and strong storms after Wednesday night through Wednesday night.

A few storms could produce some damaging winds, hail and an isolated tornado, and there is the possibility of a rapid rush of 1-2 inches in any storm and therefore a renewed concern for flooding, but the last week.

The highs will be a little warmer and up to 80 lows, and the higher humidity will make you feel even a little warmer.

THURSDAY

Wednesday’s cold front may be a bit slow at the exit, so some clouds may linger for a while on Thursday and maybe a shower or two spikes. However, you will notice that the levels of clouds and humidity decrease as the day progresses, which will be the start of our next stretch of dry and pleasant weather, which will last until the weekend.

Thursday’s highs will be cooler, especially in the mid-70s, with clouds and that morning rain that will give way to the sun. We’ll be back to the cooler 50s starting Thursday night.

FRIDAY TO SUNDAY

In short, expect a three-day stretch at the end of September at the latest. Highs will be in the mid to late 70s on Friday and Saturday, and will rise to 80 lows on Sunday. The three days will be partly to almost sunny with gentle winds and little humidity. As an added bonus, expect cool, comfortable nights with lows in the 50s every night. Enjoy it!

One thing to keep in mind will be the swell of Hurricane Larry, well located on the coast, which can cause some high tide and a strong starting current. While the weather will be fantastic, keep in mind the coastal impacts during this time period and be sure.
