What Brian Daboll of Buffalo Bills said about head coach rumors

Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll is already a bit of a hot commodity and his team is still playing.

While the Bills (13-3) continue their season with the Wild Card on Saturday against the Indianapolis Colts (11-5), more than half of the NFL will not do the same. Their seasons are over and several of these teams have already made changes.

These league-wide moves have many in western New York. Some think the Bills could soon lose Daboll’s services and no one really wants that given the steps taken by offense and quarterback Josh Allen in 2020.

However, Daboll already had requests for Jets and Chargers interviews, so there is a real possibility that another team has sneaked him in to be his next coach.

Even as the rumor mill is turning more and more every day, on Monday during its weekly video conference, Daboll tried to have a crack at these jobs. Despite being grateful, he tried to assure Buffalo that he was focused on the task he was carrying out.

“I appreciate the question. Here we have a very important job in a short week. Everything I do with our staff will focus on the Colts, ”said Daboll. “Humiliated for that, but focused on what we need to do here.”

“You have a huge challenge ahead. It’s better to be focused, “added Daboll.

The Bills will surely not get any wins against the Colts, even if they are favorites close to touchdown. Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott, like many, hopes Daboll isn’t distracted by having interviews scheduled after the next game. Teams are not allowed to speak with Daboll until after the Bills-Colts game, but he will still be in mind.

Of course, of course, McDermott has not been able to support Daboll being able to get a gig.

“When you win, people want a winner,” McDermott said earlier this week.

Arrogant? May be. Do you need it? Well, it does have a point …
