The Buffalo Bills have recently had connections with several receivers from every free agent. None bigger than veteran Kenny Stills.
The 28-year-old has experience and, as a result of injuries and COVID problems related to the Bills (12-3) and his current harvest of receivers … his name is definitely turning his head. Earlier this week, the Bills had a free agent visit with Stills.
On Thursday, Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott addressed Stills News and made sure to place things in two separate areas while making an appearance with the team’s radio teammate, WGR -550. First, McDermott said the injury situation that occurs with Buffalo’s wide receiver unit, especially Cole Beasley (knee), is something totally different.
“I can tell you … in relation to Beasley’s situation, specifically, two separate conversations,” McDermott said.
Later in the conversation, oddly enough, McDermott only ruled out Reggie Gilliam ending Sunday’s season finale. But through his video conferencing moments later, he classified Beasley as “week by week,” which is what he did earlier in the week. It looks like Beasley’s saga will continue, but it looks like he’s unlikely to play against Buffalo’s season finale against the Miami Dolphins (10-5).
McDermott did not mention John Brown in his interview, but is currently also out. Brown is out of the injured reserve, but is currently on the Reserve / COVID list. It is to be hoped that Brown would return from this appointment before Sunday, however. He was not given any positive coronavirus testing, but it was a safety precaution due to contact tracking.
Regarding Stills specifically, the coach did not say whether or not he would sign with the team. However, he admitted the Bills’ interest, adding that he had been there for a long time through Buffalo general manager Brandon Beane.
“Brandon has been looking at Stills for a long time. Nothing is true so far. We’ll see where it goes from here, “McDermott said.
Stills, a selection of the Saints in the fourth round of 2013, ended up reaching the Dolphins through trade. He was then changed back to the Texans, who cut him off in November after he could not find a role in his offense.
In 10 games in 2020, Stills had 11 catches in 19 144-yard goals with a touchdown. In 117 career games, Stills has 310 catches for 4,843 yards and 37 touchdowns. Stills also has experience playing in the slot, which causes connections to Beasley’s injury.
