It was a shocking and disappointing choice for President-elect Denise McDonough to elect President Joe Biden. I met McDonough and have always been attracted to him. But let him be our next VA. There is no world I could have imagined as a secretary. He’s not a beast, let alone a post-9/11 beast. Instead, he badly needs a well-known, civilian, white guy, a transforming leader who can understand and represent an increasingly diverse community. Python had countless dynamic, inspiring, efficient, transformative options – to pick up more than 3 million post-9/11 cattle. Instead of choosing a respected, celebrated and proven veterinarian like Natja West, the Army’s first Black Lieutenant General, Army Surgeon General and Commander-in-Chief of the Army Medical Command, Biden chose a Washington political entry, he never ran a company in the VA, never a VA Never been sick. He never even wore a uniform. The broader organization is wrestling with the outbreak of COVID cases, soldiers of color, the shocking sexual assault situation and the unprecedented politicization of our society under Donald Trump. I was not consulted — I am not a Democrat. But if I were in the Senate, V.A. The secretary could not support McDonough. I expect many Democrats — especially progressives — to lose theirs in the election beyond this touch. In the United States so, and now in particular, representation is important. V.A. Should not be the exception. After two decades of war, it is time for a transformative, empathetic, inspiring secretary. Someone who can encourage cattle (and all Americans) to be a part of VA’s new future. A leader who can translate our experiences to 99 percent of Americans who have never worked since 9/11. A person who can create potential success for us. Instead, the new Secretary of Veterans Affairs is a political operator, not one of us. It feels supportive and swampy. Democrats will not accept this in any other institution. This should not be accepted here in VA. Other agencies receive “underground” and “tracking” cabinet candidates. Again, V.A. Finds the solution to be “efficient”. Over the next few weeks, you will hear from many insiders and politicians who know McDonough. That is to be expected. That’s how these things work in Washington. But for enthusiasts, the front-line V.A. Because Biden is not clear. V.A. The news of the appointment may have been an exciting, inspiring, wonderful moment for 19 million cattle and their families. Rather, it is confusing, frustrating, annoying, insulting — or rather inappropriate. Unfortunately, after two decades of war and struggle, we have become accustomed to it. There are a lot of changes in the United States in 2020. This is not so. This is another sad reflection of how low-level players are valued in terms of understanding and priority for American political leadership from both parties. .
