“I was looking for my family,” the 43-year-old quarterback recalled. “Suddenly I see my eldest son [Jack] run to me, “Dad!” you know, and I gave her a big hug. I saw my two little ones [daughter Vivian and son Benjamin]and suddenly I saw my wife and gave her a big hug ”.
Brady said his wife twelve years later asked, “What else do you have to prove?”
“I was trying to find a way to change the subject very quickly,” Brady said of his response. “I think I moved on to something else pretty quickly.”
After Brady’s first Super Bowl victory with his new team, Bündchen posted a family photo on Instagram featuring his two children, 8-year-old Vivian and 10- and 13-year-old Benjamin Jack, who Brady shares with his ex, Bridget Moynahan. .
“Congratulations my love! Over the years I have seen you overcome so many adversities, both physically and emotionally. I can certainly say that you are the most dedicated, focused and mentally tough person I have ever met, ”Bündchen, 40, said at the time.
“It has been a challenging year and watching you in a new environment, devoting extra time to getting to know and support your teammates, working with your new coaches with respect and grace, waking up earlier each day to deal with the pitfalls and bruises of playing football, without ever complaining, you have focused on the goal of getting out and being the best leader you can be. ”
Bündchen has already addressed the issue of retirement before. After Brady led the Patriots to the Super Bowl return to the Falcons in 2017, Bündchen expressed concern over concussions in an interview with CBS.
“Last year he had a concussion. He has almost all concussions … ”, he said, before cutting himself. “I mean, we’re not talking about it. But he does have concussions. I really don’t think it’s healthy for anyone to go through that. “
While this is Brady’s first season in Tampa Bay after 20 seasons in New England, Bündchen was already convinced by the end of 2018 that any retirement talk would go in his ear and come out in the other.
“I haven’t been very successful.” the Brazilian-born model told Saints fan Ellen DeGeneres at the time. “I want him to do what makes him happy.”
Last month, Brady said he would “definitely consider” playing for more than 45 years. He turned 44 in August.
