The couple was admitted to Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth, their son Christopher Blackwell told CBS11.
He said they spent several days in intensive care as the condition of the ventilators continued to deteriorate.
Last week, the couple’s family, which includes five children, was told by a 61 – year – old father that the 65 – year – old mother would not survive.
It was decided to stop life support when the family said an emotional goodbye.
“Two of my other brothers are actually in the room there in the hospital. They put my stepmother at the wheel in the room with my dad, while they both removed it from the ventilator. They had their hands on it, and they were both gone in a minute or two,” said Christopher.‘I’ve never seen anything like this before, and it’s hard to put into words even to see it. “
Counselors have been provided to students at two schools where these teachers are loved and respected.
They worked until they got sick, but it is not known how they contracted the virus.
