White Sox cut Cubs with five homers

CHICAGO – Cuban Luis Robert provided two homers, Dylan Cease tied his career high with 11 strikeouts and the White Sox beat the Cubs 13-1 on Sunday in a duel between Chicago rivals.

Dominican Eloy Jimenez, Cuban Yasmani Grandal and Brian Goodwin also hit home runs for the White Sox, who recorded a 5-1 record against the Cubs this year. Robert, Jimenez and Goodwin drove three races each.

José Abreu made a two-run double in a fifth inning in which the White Sox scored seven times, bringing the Cuban to 101 towed runs with 29 games remaining. The current Most Valuable Player in the American League drove the most goals in a campaign in his career with 123 in 2019.

Jiménez and Cease, who were acquired by the White Sox from the Puppies as part of a five-player exchange by Colombian left-back José Quintana on July 13, 2017, continued to torment their former team.

After the Abru double with two outs in a thump that went over the head of Venezuelan center fielder Rafael Ortega, Jimenez hit Kyle Hendricks (14-6) a three-run homer in the back of right field that gave to the White averages an advantage of 8-1.
