“We know you’ve noticed that Michael hasn’t been here with us this week. He wanted us to let you know that he’s tested positive for COVID. He’s at home quarantining,” anchor Robin Roberts said to open Thursday’s ‘GMA’ .
Anchor George Stephanopoulos said Strahan thanks all those who have come forward and given their wishes.
“He’s fine too and wants to come back here soon after,” Stephanopoulos said.
Stephanopoulos said everyone who works at “GMA,” with a camera and away from home, has been authorized by Disney to be in the studio after tracking contacts following CDC guidelines.

Roberts said he has been texting with Strahan, who said his dog Enzo has kept him nice and warm.
Strahan, who also provides analysis on the pre-Fox NFL Sunday program, appeared remotely during last Sunday’s NFC championship game. Strahan, however, also made remote appearances for much of the season so that Thursday night’s games would not conflict with his “GMA” program.
Strahan, 49, has been absent from the ABC morning show all week and remains uncertain when he will be back.
He has been a part of “Good Morning America” since 2016 and has been a benchmark in Fox’s NFL coverage since retiring after the New York Giants won their third of four Super Bowl titles during the season. 2007.
