A gang of thieves escaping a £ 320,000 wine theft ended up throwing some of the expensive bottles at police during a car chase in France.
Thieves began throwing expensive bottles of wine at French gendarmes as they drove down the highway around 5:15 a.m. Tuesday, The Guardian reports.
They had headed to the luxurious Relais Château Domaine in Rymska, 29 km from Beaune, Burgundy.
The thieves opened the doors of the hotel’s cellar, which came out with hundreds of bottles of wine.

The hotel owner was awakened after the fire alarm started firing before he got into his car and chased the band van.
He continued to ask for help as he chased them on the A ^ Autoroute du Soleil motorway heading south towards Lyon.
A police officer joined the hotel owner in chasing the car, but as they approached the van, thieves began throwing bottles of stolen wine at their pursuers.
The thieves abandoned their van 22 kilometers north of Lyon after colliding with a toll barrier.

Police said no one was injured and the bottles thrown at the gendarmes’ vehicle had failed.
An investigation has been launched and police have said they are looking for at least three men.
Investigators are also working to determine if this incident is related to a second break-in at the hotel that took place just 24 hours earlier.
In the previous rupture, £ 180,000 wines were stolen from the same winery that went into this latest incident.
