Winter weather makes Houston airport travel delayed

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – Hundreds of departing flights have been canceled or delayed Sunday at Houston airports due to strong cold winds and snow in other areas.

In the video above, some photos show defrosting on planes taking off and charging at the airport. The winter storm affects Dallas / Fort Worth International Airport, one of the busiest airports in the nation, and causes major travel disruptions across the country.

Both George Bush Intercontinental Airport and William P. Hobby Airport are experiencing delays.

Due to weather conditions at DFW Airport, Houston airports experience departure delays of 2 hours and 59 minutes on average.

Delays in departure from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport also experience delays of 58 minutes on average.

As for taxi delays at Houston airports, the delays are currently averaging about 15 minutes or less.
