HOUSTON – Houston has scored a deadly shooting in the last 24 hours.
Since Friday night, at 10:30 p.m., there have been six shootings, where a total of nine people were shot, according to data collected by KPRC 2.
Five of those people died.
This makes the total number of homicides in Houston at least 89, according to KPRC 2 data.
More recently, Houston police said a woman was found dead in a parking lot at Almeda Genoa Church in southeast Houston. Police are still working to find out what happened and why she was shot.
“A passerby saw the car parked there and then came back over there and realized it was running still and looked and found it dead inside the vehicle,” said Andrew Barr, a Houston police detective.
After 10:30 p.m., Friday, two men were shot several times near downtown Houston. One man died and another was taken to hospital.
Investigators said witnesses said a group of people with scooters were walking down the street. Two brothers left the main group and passed through the parking area of a McDonald’s. At that moment, they arrived by another group that was next to a vehicle. They exchanged words that turned into a gun disturbance, according to police.

Police said shots were fired.
Officials said it is unclear whether the shots fired both groups into one. There is also no suspicious information available at this time. The investigation into the shooting continues.
Then followed five more shots.
“We were busy last night with the homicide division. It’s been a very busy year, a little busier than usual, “said Barr.
Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner also influenced violence throughout Houston.
“There is too much gang violence in our city and again we will increase,” he said. “We have already started, but we will continue to use the resources to put more law enforcement on our streets. But at the same time, it will not bring down violence in our city, we need the community to be practical as well. ”
