One of the aspects we need to address urgently is the integration of the physical, mental and emotional health agenda into women-led or women-led teams, Especially in this new environment, as according to the OAS Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM), due to the effects of the pandemic, one in four women in high-level positions is thinking of reducing their job responsibilities, take a license, or leave the workforce altogether.

It would be a high-impact impact on both businesses and their own societies. Note that, according to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), if Latin American countries make female labor force participation, GDP per capita can increase by up to 10%

Strengthening a more prosperous work culture should have a direct impact on job retention of women-led and women-led teams. Consider the survey conducted by the International Labor Organization (ILO) among 13,000 companies in 70 countries that was published in May 2019: 60% of these participating companies reported that it had increased to 20 % its profitability thanks to the work of the women in managerial places, in addition to improving in key indicators like creativity, performance and attraction of new talent, that are fundamental elements to detonate and canalise the innovation.

the International Women’s Day it allows strategic areas of companies, such as Human Resources or the general directorates themselves, to reflect and establish high-impact actions from a more well-to-do work culture.

In the case of Gympass, this year has left us several learnings and tools to strengthen, precisely, this culture:

Wellness should be part of the agenda

Companies need to recognize the challenge they face. In a survey of nearly 400 women worldwide, by the consulting firm Deloitte, 82% present impacts as a result of routine change: impact on physical well-being and inability to balance work and personal commitments. In this same study, 45% of women believe that companies should promote mental health programs, while 44% believe it is necessary to have physical health plans.

The approach needs to be increasingly comprehensive, whether from hybrid schemes, with face-to-face and other online activities. Betting on only one type of activity in a single location will have less and less effectiveness, even in aspects that the company may be interested in promoting, such as emotional pay. The trend we see is that companies interested in this wellness agenda should prioritize flexibility because, just as work can be done remotely, so will health care options: with solutions that respond to the needs of people, in their day to day.

The home office, the integration of remote equipment, the adaptation to technological platforms, hybrid models are just some of the things that are already part of our daily lives. One more example of the need for a quick adaptation and the need to leave behind the “We’ve always done that.”

Innovation and growth is the focus that more companies are adopting today. Changes in the structures, leadership, and ways of directing that we were accustomed to have given way to better talent management, which in turn involves rethinking aspects that were not previously considered, such as the importance of emotions or stress reduction. , through various tools that can range from applications to have an exercise plan with personal trainers to breathing exercises.

Continuously monitors the work climate

Human Resources plays a key role in the new work environment of companies in terms of parameters, processes and initiatives that detonate healthier, more egalitarian, respectful and harmonious work environments. Fortunately, they have several allies and technologies that can be chosen to strengthen a better environment, such as increasing the frequency of sending poll surveys, a questionnaire to contributors for health and wellness information. It is fast, simple and reliable, providing data on aspects such as the work environment and communication, which allow a positive and continuous transformation of the environment.
