WWE reportedly turned SmackDown’s biggest star heel after a controversial SummerSlam match

Becky Lynch made her surprise return to the WWE in SummerSlam Saturday night, but “The Man” ended up being involved in the most controversial moment of the night. Halfway through the show Bianca Belair arrived at her SmackDown Women’s Championship match with Sasha Banks, only for the WWE to announce that “The Boss” was unable to compete at the last minute. Initially, Carmella was knocked down as a replacement, only to get to “The Man” and quickly get her out of the ring. He then challenged Belair to an impromptu title match, grabbed her with a fist and hit a quick Manhandle Slam for the win.

Fans were instantly furious at the situation of weakness that made him look like Belair, but now it seems that reaction was part of the WWE plan. In accordance with PWInsiderMike Johnson, Lynch will position himself as a heel in the SmackDown brand and will continue his fight with Belair.

The WWE initially tried to return Lynch’s heel in 2018 when it first introduced the person from “The Man,” but that quickly pushed in as fans continued to adopt Lynch’s new attitude. But over the past day, fans have been speculating that Lynch had become given the way he interacted with fans after beating Belair.

Lynch also kept his interview after the game incredibly brief, telling Kayla Braxton backstage, “The man is back, and he feels good.” Do you think trying to turn Lynch’s heel back into a good idea?
