WWE: SummerSlam 2021 became the most watched edition in its history with several records Brock Lesnar | Reigns novel | SHEET-SPORTS

WWE had a big challenge last weekend with SummerSlam 2021 and was to be a global trend to counter the emergence of CM Punk in AEW. The Vince McMahon company saved nothing and closed the event in the best way: with the return of Brock Lesnar.

The ‘Incarnate Beast’ returned after more than a year of absence to face Roman Reigns, who minutes before had defeated John Sopa. But it wasn’t the only surprise, Las Vegas Allegiant Stadium fans also vibrated with excitement with the return of Becky Lynch.

The two surprise appearances and the event in general left with good numbers for WWE to such an extent that the company announced that SummerSlam 2021 became the most watched edition in the entire history of the event. The show was the most tuned on a Saturday night on Peacock and WWE Network with seven million people live.

The average audience of the show increased by 55% compared to the numbers harvested in 2020. Not only did they break figures in streaming, but also in box office and audience, as WWE announced that they had achieved the highest attendance at a SummerSlam with 51,326 fans.

Sales of official WWE products and sponsors also stood out, as sales of merchandise at SummerSlam increased by 155% over the 2019 edition. While 25% of profits came thanks to sponsors, a growth of 7% compared to 2019.

On the other hand, on social media the balance was more than positive, as among all the videos released by SummerSlam on all its platforms, WWE has already reached one trillion views. Of course, the return of Brock Lesnar at the event has become the most watched in the history of the WWE Instagram account, surpassing the return of John Sopa to Money In The Bank.
