It is possible that Xbox Game Pass will arrive on Steam. In the past, we’ve heard that Xbox Game Pass would come to Nintendo Switch and even PlayStation consoles, but so far none of these rumors have come to fruition. That said, it looks like instead of bringing the popular and growing subscription service to Nintendo and PlayStation, Xbox boss Phil Spencer and his team could take it to Valve’s dominant PC showcase.
The report goes hand in hand with Tyler McVicker, a member of the industry best known for his scoops and reports on all things Valve. Speaking on a recent Questions and Answers on YouTube, McVicker revealed that Valve is trying to get the Steam subscription service.
Unfortunately, that’s all McVicker reveals. In other words, there is no word on how this research is going or if Microsoft is interested. Phil Spencer has said in the past that he wants to bring Xbox Game Pass to as many platforms as possible, but to do so, Xbox Live Gold must be available on the same platform, which is why we haven’t seen the subscription service at Nintendo Switch, PS4 or PS5. In addition, Microsoft is investing in PC space with the Windows Store, which may or may not complicate the deal.
Unfortunately, all we can do is speculate. If Valve and Microsoft are discussing Xbox Game Pass on Steam, neither has tipped their hats to these discussions or commented on this new McVicker report.
For now, grab it all with a grain of salt. While it seems like it can happen, there’s probably a reason it hasn’t happened. If Microsoft brought Xbox Game Pass to Steam, Valve would probably get some sort of cut. And if that happens, Microsoft will ask for something in return, like Steam on Xbox or maybe a new one There are 4 dead game.
