EA Play is a service advantage within a service for Xbox Game Pass subs on consoles and, starting tomorrow, also for PC
After a longer-than-expected release, Xbox Game Pass subscribers to PC will soon be able to play a lot of games released by EA at no additional cost, including Star Wars: Squadrons. Game Pass and EA Play are grouping together. While this has already happened on Xbox consoles, the PC part has been slowly weird. The official start date? March 18 at 2:00 p.m. Pacific. Hey, it’s tomorrow!
If you’re not sure where to start with these things, there’s a minor hassle before you can access your free games. You’ll need to download the EA Desktop app, sign in with a current or newly created EA account, and link it to your Xbox account. I know, I know. Too many steps.
That said, the actual process is pretty straightforward: just try to install an EA Play game via the Xbox app on your PC and the system will steer you in the right direction with regard to the EA app.
It’s also worth mentioning that you don’t need to sign up for EA Play. It is an automatic advantage.
You can find an updated list of EA Play games included here; highlights include Jedi: Order dropped, Titanfall 2, An exit, Get rid of them, Sporeand testing new 10-hour games (click “View games” in the Xbox app). In all, there are over 60 PC games. Many are not what you will consider “recent,” but they hold up well.
If you have an Xbox Game Pass for PC or an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, don’t worry. I’ve said it before, but the most common is that “renting” EA games is my favorite method. Game Pass makes it easy.
