A prominent Xbox insider has mocked that Xbox Game Studios has none, but two “big” unannounced games slated for this year. Unfortunately, this is where the details of these two mystery games end, at least the details of the most prominent variety. As for the report, it comes in the manner of Jez Corden of Window Central, who, during a recent episode of the Xbox Two podcast, stated that Xbox Game Studios has scheduled “at least” two “big games” this year that has not posted I did not announce it.
Right now, Xbox Game Studios has both Halo Infinite i Psychonauts 2 debuting this year. Currently, the first is scheduled to be released sometime this holiday season, while the second still has a wider “2021” release window. In addition, it has several games with “TBA” release dates, such as Age of Empires IV, As Dusk Falls, Everwild, Fable 4, Hellblade 2, Forza Motorsport 8, Perfect Dark, Project Mara, State of decay 3, and several Bethesda games. Of course, some of these could make their way this year, but these are announced games and therefore do not fit the bill.
Again, Corden doesn’t even hint at what these games might be, but it’s very possible that one could be a new one. Forza Horizon, which is rumored for this year. Meanwhile, the other game could be Wolfenstein III, which we know is in development but has not actually been announced, but should be about to end.
While these are two assumptions, it’s unclear what else the two games could be, especially since Corden identifies them as “great games”. Sure, “big” is subjective, but there’s no reason to think Corden would extend the term. The fact is that great games are rarely advertised and published the same year. However, it doesn’t just do that Power do it all the time, but Bethesda is one of the few that takes this approach, from time to time, giving weight to previous speculations.
For now, grab it all with a grain of salt, as it ranges from official to downright speculative. While Corden is usually quite reliable, everything here is very inaccurate and of course subject to change.
