Fortnite for everyone
Some changes are coming to the channel for Xbox Live users. Today, an update to Xbox Insiders Alpha will remove the Xbox Live Gold requirement for Party Chat, Looking 4 Groups, and multiplayer in free games.
According to release notes, these service changes are being checked before general availability, implying that they will eventually be addressed to all Xbox users.
Microsoft had already announced that it would drop the Xbox Live Gold requirement for free games in January, when it reversed course on a price increase for the Gold service.
Xbox Live has also undergone a change, and Xbox Live has recently been changed to Xbox Network. “The upgrade from ‘Xbox Live’ to ‘Xbox Network’ is intended to distinguish the underlying service from Xbox Live Gold subscriptions,” Microsoft told The Verge.
This is good news for people who want to participate Fortnite or War zone without the Gold requirement, and it might be interesting if Halo InfiniteThe free multiplayer experience is under the same arrangement.
