Miami. Yadier Molina lifted a sacrifice balloon that broke the tie against Sandy Alcántara, his former drummer, and the San Luis Cardinals won the Miami Marlins 4-2 on Tuesday.
The Boricua Molina high crowned a three-run attack in the sixth inning. Dylan Carson beat his second home run of the season to widen the gap in the ninth chapter.
Alcántara was ceded by St. Louis to Miami in December 2017, as part of a package that also included Dominican Marcell Ozuna. Three months earlier, he had made his senior debut, with Molina as his catcher.
At 25, Alcántara (0-1) equaled the best figure of his career, receiving 10 strikeouts in the first five innings. He limited the Cardinals to two hits.
Tommy Edman and Paul Goldschmidt opened the sixth episode by hitting hits inside the box. A ticket to Nolan Sorrejat filled the bases without outs.
A ‘passed ball’ gave St. Louis a run, and a Paul DeJong producer shot tied the game 2-2. Molina, who connected two more hits, beat the high that meant the front.
The win was for Ryan Helsey. Alex Reis provided the rescue.
For the Cardinals, Puerto Rican Molina 3-2 with a push.
Stroman shines in first Mets victory
Philadelphia. Marcus Stroman looked fine-tuned for six innings, in what was his first opening since 2019, and the New York Mets defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 8-4 on Tuesday.
Dominic Smith and Pete Alonso provided two homers for two runs for the Mets to secure their first win of the campaign.
Didi Gregorius fired a lone home run for Philadelphia, looking to start the campaign with a 5-0 record, which he last achieved in 1915.
After refusing to play last year over concerns about the coronavirus, Stroman (1-0) didn’t look rusty. He tolerated one run and 3 hits, before leaving the game in the hands of a bullpen that had ruined a great performance by Jacob deGrom the night before.

Phillies opener Chase Anderson (0-1) allowed two runs and a couple of hits over five innings. He celebrated his first opening with his new team.
Vince Velasquez struck out his three rivals in the sixth episode but issued 4 tickets in the seventh. All four runners scored and the Mets extended their lead to 6-1.
For the Mets, Puerto Rican Francisco Lindor 4-0 with a score. The Dominican Jonathan Villar 1-0. The Venezuelan Luis Guillorme 2-0 with a score.
Untouchable Gerrit Cole against Baltimore
New York. Gerrit Cole struck out 13 batters and did not deliver passports for seven blank innings, his most dominant opening since joining the New York Yankees, who crushed the Baltimore Orioles 7-2 on Tuesday.
Cole (1-0) got his first win of the season, allowing an unstoppable 4 p.m., three of them singles, in the kind of performance that showed why the Yankees made him the pitcher best paid of the majors in December 2019 when he was given a contract for nine years and $ 324 million.
Jay Bruce backed up Cole’s solid performance with his first homer of the campaign, with no base men in the second inning against Dean Kremer (0-1), and Aaron Judge added a three-run toddler to the eighth.
