Yadier Molina makes history in the Major Leagues sports

Yadier Molina is getting closer and closer to being an immortal at Cooperstown’s prestigious Baseball Hall of Fame.

There are still a few years to go before this apotheosis moment.

But as time goes on, the stellar Puerto Rican receiver of the St. Louis Cardinals continues to make history in the Major Leagues.

Molina became the first catcher on Wednesday to receive 2,000 games with the same team. In total, six receivers have received 2,000 games in the Majors, but with different ninths. These are Iván Rodríguez (2,427), Carlton Fisk (2,226), Bob Boone (2,225), Gary Carter (2,056) and Jason Kendall (2,025).

The 38-year-old from Dorade made the feat in the game against the Washington Nationals.

Molina is in his 18th season in the Major Leagues, all with Sant Lluís. His first official game behind the plate was on June 3, 2004 against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The so-called Marcià signed this year for one more season.
