Yankees add to their bullpen left-back Justin Wilson

NEW YORK – Left-back Justin Wilson returned to the New York Yankees after two seasons with the New York Mets, in agreeing a contract Monday, a source confirmed to ESPN.

Wilson joins a bullpen led by shutout Aroldis Chapman and Zack Britton, both left-handers. Right-handed pitcher Chad Green joins right-hander Darren O’Day, who was hired after the Yankees switched Adam Ottavino to the Boston Red Sox in a move to cut costs.

Wilson, 33, had a 5-0 record with an effectiveness of 3.10 to 74 appearances with the Yankees in 2015, then moved to the Detroit Tigersy Chicago Cubs before spending 2019 and 2020 with the Mets.

He had a 2-1 record with effectiveness from 3.66 to 19 2/3 innings in 23 appearances last season. Ponchó at 23 and walked 09:00

Wilson averaged 95 mph with his fast ball, throwing it a little more often than halfway through his throws. He also throws a straight cut, mixing an occasional slider and a curve.

Wilson is a nine-year veteran in the Major Leagues who spent his first three seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

His dealings with the Yankees were first reported by WFAN in New York.

New York is also finalizing a minor league contract with receiver Robinson Chirinos, which would be reported in major league spring training, according to several reports.

The 36-year-old split last season from the Texas Rangers and Mets, who acquired him on Aug. 31. Beat 162 with a homer and seven RBIs in 74 innings to bat in 26 games.

Chirinos is also a nine-year veteran in the Major Leagues who had two homers and three RBIs-driven Houston Astres in his 2019 World Series loss to the Washington Nationals.

His best seasons were with Texas in 2018, when he hit .222 with 18 homers and 65 RBIs, and with Houston in 2019, when he hit 238 with 17 homers and 58 RBIs.
