The recall covers 10,869 units of 48-ounce containers of Weis-quality cookies and ice cream and 502 bulk containers of 3 gallons of Klein’s vanilla milk ice cream.
There is a report from a customer who found an “intact metal piece of equipment” in a 48-ounce carton of cookies and cream, the company said.
The 48-ounce containers were sold at Weis Markets ’197 grocery stores, located in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Delaware and West Virginia. They have now been withdrawn from sale, the company said.
The product has a sales deadline of October 21, 2020, located at the bottom of the container. Customers who have purchased the product can return it for a full refund.
Klein 3-gallon bulk vanilla ice cream was not for retail sale. It was sold to a New York retail store and has been withdrawn, the company said.
According to the company, additional ice cream products were stored that were packaged on the same day that the withdrawn items were removed from a warehouse and not distributed.
Customers looking for additional information can contact Weis Customer Service, the company said.
