“I was trying to get out of going to Oklahoma because it was getting too complicated with (Covid-19) and the family,” Stefani said. “I say to myself, ‘I think we should cancel the trip.’ He was one of those. Then we got him together and we ended up going.”
Stefani said her families were present, including her children from her previous marriage to singer Gavin Rossdale.
The plan was for everyone to go see the house Stefani and Shelton are building and he said Shelton had the ring, without you knowing it.
“No one knew it, no one knew it,” he said. “My dad knew it because on my birthday he had taught my dad and said he was going to do it or whatever.”
The singer said Shelton got on her knees to light a fire in the fireplace and asked her to look in the closet and grab a fire starter. When he did, he saw the ring in a box and shouted.
“He was saying to me,‘ What, are you serious? “Then everyone came running because they heard us screaming and crying and so there was no video.”
