The former presenter spoke with Andrew Goldman, host of the Los Angeles magazine’s “The Originals” podcast, and discussed a wide range of topics, including guest participation on HBO’s “The Undoing.” CBS Evening News and ABC News.
While talking about his scene in “The Undoing,” alongside Hugh Grant, where he portrays a journalist interviewing Grant’s character about the murder investigation, he said he gave some advice to Grant.
“When Hugh Grant sat down, it all looked ruffled,” he said. “He’s one of those wrinkled British comrades. And his tie was messy and I’m very TOC. So I said, ‘Hugh, straighten your tie.’ And he goes and fixes it. And then there was a neck out of the dress … And I said, “Hugh, fix this.” And then he looked like Rodney Dangerfield. I should sit in the back of “Broadcast News,” in the back of my jacket, to make it nice and tidy. ”
He also said he thought he had heard to listen but had not seen much in his scene because he rewrote sections of the dialogue.
In 1993, Chung became the co-host of “CBS Evening News.”
with Dan Rather. She only had the job for two years and says she works with Rather: “If you turned your back on me, I’d feel like I might be in a ‘Psycho’ scene in the shower,” suggesting I should always look around her – anchor, noting that she was forced to do tabloid-style interviews that others did not want to do.
He continued to work on the ABC News program, “20/20.”
During the podcast interview, he said the atmosphere on the net, where he worked with journalists Barbara Walters and Diane Sawyer, was competitive and compared it to the bitter rivalry of the 1990s between figure skaters Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya. Harding.
“[W]When I got to ABC, both Diane and Barbara were in the same field trying to get these great interviews. So when I tried to go after them, they told me I couldn’t. That Barbara and Diane were the only ones who could compete for the interview and I had to stop. And I said, “Really?”
Chung worked briefly on CNN and organized a program in 2002 called “Connie Chung Tonight.”
