Jim Carrey has been charged.
The comic will no longer play President-elect Joe Biden on “Saturday Night Live.”
“Although my term was only to last 6 weeks, I loved being elected president of his SNL … the highest obligation of comedy,” Carrey he tweeted on Saturday. “I’d love to go ahead knowing Biden was the winner because I nailed that st. But I’m just one of a long line of proud SNL Bidens and fighters!”
According to The Wrap, the 58-year-old Los Angeles resident temporarily moved to New York to play Biden on the full-length comics show.
“SNL” has sporadically aired live episodes in the studio during season 46, despite the pandemic.
“Thanks to Jim Carrey for showing up when it mattered,” the “SNL” Twitter account published in response to Carrey’s news.
Maya Rudolph has played vice president-elect Kamala Harris since last season, when “SNL” mocked the Democratic primaries.
You will be able to see a new Biden on tonight’s show, which airs at 11:30 pm Kristin Wiig will host with Dua Lipa as a musical guest.
During the Obama administration, Jason Sudeikis portrayed Biden. Woody Harrelson and John Mulaney have also performed in the upcoming future prez, though only when they have hosted the show.
Alec Baldwin, who has been Trump’s president for years, said goodbye to the character after Trump lost the election.
