Providence firefighters will offer free home trips on New Year’s Eve.
Providence IAFF Fire Department Local 799 offers free home trips on New Year’s Eve.
Attractions start at 8pm on Tuesday 31st December and end on Wednesday 1st January at 7am
“It’s an opportunity to return to our community by offering a free and safe trip,” said Derek Silva, president of Providence IAFF Local 799 Fire Department.
For a safe trip home, citizens should call 401.272.7999.
Travel is only offered from bars and restaurants in Providence to private residences within the city limits.
There will be a limited number of Providence firefighters out of service to make field calls and offer trips; delays can be expected.
Safe night program
The attractions are part of the Providence Fire Department’s Safe Night program.
The program is in its sixth year.
“We launched Safe Night six years ago in an effort to reduce the number of possible drunk driving accidents by offering free trips from Providence bars and restaurants to residents who may not be able to return home alone,” Silva added.
Safe Night is not an official program of the city of Providence.
