Kanye West almost made a game with Nintendo

Kanye West almost made a video game with Nintendo, presumably for the Nintendo Switch. Speaking during a podcast, former Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime revealed that Kanye West approached him and Nintendo at E3 a few years ago to play a game together. According to the former president of Nintendo of America, Kanye chatted with Shigeru Miyamoto, Nintendo’s most prominent figure known for creating series such as Mario i The legend of Zelda, at the company’s E3 booth. Eventually, this led to a formal meeting between West and Nintendo, but nothing ever came of that meeting.

According to Fils-Aime, who intended the meeting, Nintendo had a lot at its disposal at the time and the prospect of adding a collaboration with Kanye West was simply not viable. As a result, the company had to turn down the opportunity and Reggie had to hand over the bad news to both Kanye and his wife Kim Kardashian, who was also present at the meeting.

“One part was talking about what I was doing. I was experimenting with video game content; I wanted feedback on it. He comes out and says, ‘I want to work with Nintendo,'” Fils-Aime said.

The former president of Nintendo of America continued:

“We had so many different projects at Nintendo, the chance to do something with Kanye just wasn’t there, and that’s why I had to find a way to politely turn down this opportunity to work with him. I said, ‘Kanye, you don’t want to work with us because we are tough, we are tough. All we do is drive the best content. We wouldn’t be the kind of partner you’d like to work with. ”And he looks at me and says,“ Reggie, you’re exactly the kind of partner I want for that reason. ”It’s like“ Oh, my God ”.

Reggie concluded by calling the meeting “interesting” and taking note of Kanye’s passion for not only creating, but the video game space. It’s unclear if the two sides have ever discussed a possible collaboration, and it’s unclear if Kanye is still willing to do what he released to Nintendo.

That said, as always, feel free to leave a comment or two to let us know what you think or alternatively call me on Twitter @Tyler_Fischer_ and let me know over there. Was it nonsense for Nintendo to pass up this opportunity?
