After posting a photo of him looking like an alien, actor Kumail Nanjiani became a trending topic on Twitter, a development that has some watchdogs on social media spreading rumors of unfounded steroids, and others calling the speech racist.
“Happy New Year! I celebrated with a cake pandan three milks from @marysmakeshop that made me rethink everything,” wrote Nanjiani, 42, under the Instagram image he posted over the weekend modestly showing the his biceps covered in a long-sleeved shirt. “From now on I only eat Pandan three milk cakes.”
The harmlessly subtitled image has inspired extensive comment on social media about the physical transformation of the comic, which suffered for its role in Marvel’s upcoming “Eternals,” co-starring Angelina Jolie and Kit Harington.
Since then, many haters have turned to Twitter to theorize about whether Oscar nominee “The Big Sick” took steroids to rise, but comic book fans were quick to call this speculation racist. and embarrassing.
“Does the body embarrass Kumail Nanjiani for … being shaken? It’s very strange,” a controversial advocate told see viral tweet, noting that several white actors have “done the same super-soldier show and never got any kind of flash.”
Neither Chris Evans, nor Chris Hemsworth, nor Chis Pratt were accused of “flying” when they were ripped off for various roles, pointed out another user, however, Nanjiani, who is Pakistani-American, faces speculation in a unique way.
“Notice how you only make fun of black men, but not your white favorites” pointed out another viral tweet, comparing those who speculate on Nanjiani’s ability to get a natural aficionado to those who mocked the thin physical appearance of actor Chadwick Boseman before his death.
Nanjiani representatives did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment on the online debate.
Still, the actor and screenwriter has previously been transparent about his journey with body training.
“I never thought I would be one of those people who would post a shirtless thirsty person, but I’ve worked too hard for a long time, so here we are,” headlined a topless self-image in December 2019 .
“I found out a year ago that I was going to be in Marvel’s ‘Eternals’ and decided I wanted to transform my look.” He then thanks the human and non-chemical team who helped him get the muscles.
At the time, that photo also baffled him.
