The Weeknd is sure to embrace the “new year, new you”.
The 30-year-old singer has some disturbing facial alterations, similar to extreme plastic surgery, in the video for his new song, “Save Your Tears”, which premiered on Tuesday and belongs to his album “After Hours “.
“But then you saw me, it took you by surprise,” she sings aptly in the video, where she shows a thin (and crooked) nose, swollen cheeks, swollen lips, surgical scars, and other horrible news.
His grotesquely exaggerated appearance definitely left viewers shaken.
“Why does The Weeknd look like this in the music video Save Your Tears!?! I don’t like it” said a horrified fan, while another letter from his 2018 hit “Can’t Feel My Face” pointed to a downside for the prosthesis, saying“I’m sure he can’t feel her face right now.”
A fan speculated that it was “shadow” and a response to being sidelined by the now-delayed 2021 Grammy Awards, a play that apparently left him emotionally (if not physically) injured and has continued to breathe.
Other tweeters suggested a new line of work: playing the villain Batman The Joker. Some, meanwhile, made comparisons a – and called it a “Modern version” of singer Michael Jackson, obsessed with late surgery.
Representatives of The Weeknd did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment on whether its disturbing appearance was achieved by prosthesis or CGI.
Of course, putting on intense makeup is nothing new for The Weeknd, which will perform at the 2021 Super Bowl on February 7th.
The music video for his single “Blinding Lights” featured his bloodied, bruised face, an aspect he recreated for the MTV Video Music Awards 2020 last August.
And in November, he covered his battered face again with surgical dressings to accept an award on the stages of the American Music Awards.
